4-H Serves Over 800 Pork Chops at Annual Fundraiser

The White County 4-H had an excellent turnout for their annual pork chop dinner fundraiser Saturday evening. More than 800 dinners were served during the three-hour fundraiser. 4-H continues to be a vital part of this community with the support from the people of White County. The monetary support of ticket sales for the dinner as well as the donation of time, supplies, and the wonderful desserts are greatly appreciated.

Amy McCarty, the University of Illinois Extension 4-H Coordinator, expressed her thanks to all the people who made this event a great success. She stated, ”The 4-H members, their parents, the club leaders, committee members, and other volunteers all came together and worked very hard for many hours to pull everything together. Special thanks goes to Jason Draper and Brad Cox for preparing the pork loins for the evening.”

More than 100 youth, parents, and friends of 4-H assisted throughout the evening. Money raised by the White Co. 4-H Support Committee from the pork chop dinner is used to fund 4-H college scholarships, trip fees, awards, project manuals, ribbons, and various other needs of the White County 4-H members and clubs.

4-H is currently taking new members, if anyone is interested in joining a club, call the Extension office at 618-382-2662, or attend the next club meeting of your choice!
