The City of Carmi, along with help from Carmi Township, will be having a March Madness clean-up on March 28, 2020. The City dumpsters, located at Street and Alley, will be open from 8am-4pm. Oil, batteries, tires, and appliances with freon will not be accepted. This area will be monitored by video surveillance and police patrol.
All residents are encouraged to drop their items off at this location or ask someone with a truck to pick up the items at their residence and transport the dumpster.
For anyone within the City limits of Carmi unable to get their items to the dumpsters, local volunteers will be available to collect neatly stacked curbside items on March 28, 2020. Items should be curbside no later than 8am. For curb collection, you are asked to call City Hall at 618-384-2001 to request pickup no later than March 19. Only approved items, stacked neatly at the curb, will be picked up.
Additionally, at the Street and Alley Department, Elastec will be set-up with an incinerator and will be able to incinerate up to 50 pages of confidential pages per household. Those wishing to take advantage of this should bring their papers to the Street and Alley Department between 8am – 4pm on March 28.
The City Yard Waste Site will be open normal Saturday hours, 8am-noon.
Additionally, local youth organizations will be assisting with cleaning-up city parks this day. If your organization would like to volunteer to help clean up a park or assist with pick up of items, please call Holly Healy at 618-384-2001.
