Mt. Vernon, IN Man Arrested For Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police

A 47 year old Mt. Vernon, IN man, Ryan C. Reynolds was arrested by the White County Sheriff’s Department Tuesday afternoon on a felony charge of Unlawful Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and a misdemeanor charge of Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police. The Sheriff’s Department received information about a possible stolen truck out of Mt. Vernon, Indiana that was headed west on Indiana 62 toward Illinois Highway 141. The vehicle was described as a white 2018 Ford F-150 with Illinois plates.

Officers from both the White County Sheriff’s Office and Carmi Police Department began searching for the vehicle, as they received updates from dispatch on the location they were receiving from Indiana authorities via a GPS locating device within the vehicle.

Officers observed the vehicle sitting a couple hundred yards off the roadway along a field edge. Sheriff Doug Maier began to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle as officers approached and got close to the unit. The vehicle sped off along the field edge. Officers pursued the vehicle through a large field. Sgt. Buttry positioned his squad car on County Road 1225N, where the suspect vehicle passed and he began pursuit.

The suspect stolen vehicle travelled west on County Road 1125N to the intersection of County Road 1700E. The vehicle turned left onto County Road 1700E and headed South until the vehicle began having troubles. The vehicle slowed down and eventually came to a stop. Sgt. Buttry performed a felony stop on the vehicle with his K-9 unit Rex. White County Sheriff Doug Maier and Sgt. Craig Poole assisted in the vehicle stop with officers taking the subject, Ryan C. Reynolds, to the White County Jail for processing on the charges. The vehicle was towed from the scene by S&E Tow Service.

Reynolds is being held in the White County Jail.
