MT. VERNON, IL, February 3- The annual “Run for the Wall” motorcycle ride will stop in Mt. Vernon once again on Tuesday, May 19th, 2020. This is the 32nd year Mt. Vernon has welcomed the Run for the Wall riders. Approximately 500 bikers will re-fuel in town then proceed down Broadway to the Mt. Vernon Outland Airport for a donated fried chicken luncheon. Several restaurants and businesses have donated food to this luncheon in the past, and the committee is seeking food donations again this year. This is one of only the few stops where the riders enjoy a hot, homestyle meal while they take a break from the road. Monetary donations are being collected to help offset the riders’ cost of fuel. Bikers across the nation assemble annually for the Run for the Wall ride that promotes healing among veterans, calls for an accounting of all Prisoners of War and those Missing in Action (POW/MIA), honors the memory of those Killed in Action (KIA), and supports our military personnel all over the world. The ride begins in California and ends at the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. Mt. Vernon is their only Illinois stop.
