The Illinois State Police investigated a semi-truck crash this morning that sent a Carmi man to the hospital.
According to the preliminary crash report, 30 year old Joshua Cronin was driving a 2004 Sterling semi east on County Road 1380N when he failed to negotiate a turn on County Road 1450 E. The truck overturned on the east shoulder of 1450 E and spilled part of Cronin’s grain load just before 7am.
Cronin was transported to an Evansville hospital by the White County Ambulance Service. Both the truck and trailer had to be towed from the scene. District 19 troopers were assisted at the scene by White County Sheriff’s deputies, the Carmi Fire Department, and White County EMT’s. An ISP Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer has been assigned to the investigation.
No charges have been filed and the investigation is still underway.
A person with information into the accident relayed to WROY/WRUL News that the accident occurred because Cronin’s brakes went out, and that Cronin is currently in stable condition with several broken bones.
