1962-2023
Tracy Wayne Johnson, 61, of McLeansboro, passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at his home with loved ones by his side. He was born on August 29, 1962, the son of Floyd and Jeana (Bybee) Johnson. On October 18, 2014, he married Charlotte (Biggerstaff) Johnson, who survives.
Tracy worked for Dahlgren Township on the Road Maintenance crew. He attended the First General Baptist Church in McLeansboro. Tracy enjoyed fixing things, fishing, helping out family and friends, and taking care of the animals. He loved his family, especially his nieces, nephews, and grandkids.
He is survived by his wife: Charlotte Johnson, of McLeansboro; his daughter: Jennifer (John) VanAllen of Mt. Vernon, IL; his son: Dustin (significant other Jennifer Duncan) Shelton of McLeansboro; six grandchildren: J.T. VanAllen, Jaxon VanAllen, Jace VanAllen, Landon Shelton, Amalia Shelton, and Arian Shelton; two step-children: Waynetta Burpo and Connor Burpo, both of Washington; brother: Jesse Johnson of McLeansboro; and two sisters: Stacey Murdach of McLeansboro, and Michele (Jeff) Ferguson of Geff, IL. Several beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd & Jaena Johnson and a granddaughter: Savannah.
Per Tracy’s wishes, he will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or the American Cancer Society and will be accepted at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro, which is assisting the family with arrangements.
