Teddy Franklin Gwaltney, 91, of Carmi, passed away on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, at Wabash Senior Living and Rehab in Carmi. He was born on August 26, 1932, in Mill Shoals, Illinois, the son of Paul and Gertrude (Jordan) Gwaltney. Teddy married Lois A. Seal on May 10, 1956, and she preceded him in death on April 26. 2022. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy. Teddy was a truck driver and worked for Roundy's in Eldorado. He attended Stewart Street Baptist Church. He spent a lot of time training bird dogs, and loved hunting.
Teddy is survived by his nieces and nephews, Terri (Jeff) Whitler of Carmi, IL, Karen (Rachel) Seal of Evansville, IN, Vernon (Mary Lou) Gwaltney of Fairfield, IL, and Ronnie Gwaltney of Mill Shoals, IL; and a sister-in-law, Ann Seal. In addition to his wife, Lois Gwaltney, Teddy is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Everett Gwaltney, Charles Gwaltney, Edith Gwaltney, Ethel Gwaltney and Versa Gwaltney; and his brother-in-law, John William Seal. Funeral services for Teddy Gwaltney will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Stokes Chapel Cemetery in Crossville, Illinois. Family and friends may visit from 9;00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Teddy's memory to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, who is in charge of arrangements.
