Ruthann (Stanley) Carter, 83, of Crossville, passed away on Tuesday, February 27, 2024, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. She was born at Welborn Hospital on November 25, 1940, in Evansville, Indiana, the daughter of Ed and Margaret Stanley. She married Larry Dean Carter, and he preceded her in death on July 14, 2023. Ruthann was the head cook at Crossville School for many years. She loved singing old time hymns and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruthann is survived by her sons, Eddie (Victoria) Carter of Santa Claus, IN, Stan (Joyce) Carter of Crossville, IL, Steven (Heather) Carter of Fairfield, IL. and Barry Carter of Newburgh, IN; a twin sister, Joann Peters of Lawrencville, IL; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a nephew Ronnie Peters of Carlyle, IL. She is preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Larry Dean Carter; her parents; brother-in-law, Ralph "Dugan" Peters; and a grandson, Dustin Wade Rankin.
A celebration of life and burial will be held for Ruthann Carter at a later date. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
