1947 - 2023

Rosemarie Maloney, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, October 7, 2023. She was born September 18, 1947 in St. Louis, Missouri to the late Paul and Rose (Rocchio) Maloney. She is survived by six sisters and two brothers. Theresa (John) Degenhart, Ellen (James) Aydt, Ron (Kathy) Maloney, Gail Maloney, Tom (Judy) Maloney, Gerry (John) Dolan, Jan Maloney, Sallie (Michael) Wall, fourteen nieces and nephews, Greg (Jana) Aydt, Jeremy (Sarah) Degenhart, Brendan (Amanda) Aydt, Darin
Degenhart, Kevin (Ning) Maloney, Michael (Mallory) Maloney, Rebecca Maloney, Stefan Aydt, Andy Maloney, Colleen Maloney, Ashley (Javier) Iglesias, Aaron Wall, Joshua (Cecilia) Wall, Bryson Wall, eleven great nieces and nephews, Tess Degenhart, Meg Degenhart, Gianna Degenhart, Kate Aydt, Maria Aydt, Leo Maloney, Lane Maloney, Conor Aydt, Luke Aydt, Della Maloney, and Xavier Iglesias.

She was a devout Catholic and active member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. She sang in the choir for many years. She received the Jubilee Distinguished Service Award from the Diocese of Belleville in 2012 for outstanding service to the Church in Southern Illinois.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from McKendree University. She taught mathematics for several years. She was a freelance photographer, winning many regional awards and was a member of the Cedarhurst Arts Council. Most important to her were faith and family. She was Godmother to her youngest sister and two nephews. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling throughout the country, various genres of music, and gardening.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 12, at Harre Funeral Home in Dahlgren, IL from 4-8 PM with the recitation of the rosary at 7:30 PM. The funeral Mass will be held on Friday, October 13, at 11:00 AM at Saint John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Dahlgren with burial immediately following in the church cemetery.
