Ronald Gene Kingery
1944-2025

Longtime local businessman, Ronald Gene Kingery, 80, of McLeansboro, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 1, 2025. Ron was born on Sunday, June 18, 1944, in Carmi a son of Paul and Genevieve (Baker) Kingery. On August 22, 1975, he married Sharon Suttle and together they have shared over 49 years of marriage.

Ron honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a man of faith and was a member of Cherry Street General Baptist Church in Carmi. He was also a member of Carmi American Legion Post # 224, Carmi VFW Post # 3851, Carmi Masonic Lodge # 272, Ainad Shrine Temple # 130 and he was a Kentucky Colonel.

Over 30 years ago Ron started his career as grocer and food distributor and began Kingery and Associates Grocery Traders and Little Giant Grocery Outlet in Carmi. He took many opportunities to do good and used his businesses to often bless others. His work ethic and family values helped him to lay a strong foundation and together with his family and dedicated associates he has built an ever-growing business and leaves behind a legacy of hard work and compassion.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and mowing his yard. Most important to Ron was his family, he worked hard for them, greatly enjoyed spending time with them and loved them very much.

In addition to his wife Sharon Kingery of McLeansboro, Ron is survived by his children, Ronnie Paul (Carie) Kingery of Mt. Vernon, IN, Jeff (Tammy) Kingery of New Harmony, IN, Brian (Lindsey) Kingery of New Haven, IL, David (Lynn) Shaffer of Las Vegas, NV and Laura (Chris Fry) Reker of Paducah, KY; grandchildren, Nolan (Emma) Kingery, Julia Kingery, Jeffery ( Emilee) Kingery Justin (Danielle) Kingery, , Jenna (Trey) English and Parker Kingery and Braden Kingery, great- grandchildren, Titus, Liam, Nash and Maxwell and a sister Connie (Fred) Loyd.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Gary Kingery.

Funeral services will be held at 5: 30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in the chapel at Roberts and Cook Funeral Service, 101 Edgewood Lane, Carmi, IL. With Ministers, Braden Willis, Jason Craddock and Larry Woodrow officiating. Military honors will be accorded at 5:00 p.m. by members of The United States Air Force Honor Guard, Carmi American Legion Post # 224 and Carmi VFW Post # 3851 Family and friends may visit from 2:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. In Lieu of flowers, contributions in Ron’s Memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at Roberts and Cook Funeral Service who has been entrusted with the arrangements.
