Rick Loewenherz

Rick Loewenherz, 83, passed away at his home in Overland Park, Kansas, on September 14th. Rick grew up in Carmi, graduating from Carmi Township High School in 1958. He earned a degree in political science from Washington University in St. Louis. He then moved on to graduate from the University of Tulsa College of Law. Before starting his private practice, he worked in the Tulsa County District Attorney's Office and served as an ad litem judge for a short while.

He explored various career paths, including venturing into the Oil and Gas industry. Together with fellow Carmian Mike Kimbrel, Rick was a founding partner of both Giant Petroleum and Wabash Energy. He tried his hand at country music promotion and had ownership in the renowned Cain's Ballroom. a Tulsa music landmark. In another business venture, Rick was joined by Kimbrel and two Tulsans to purchase the Tulsa Roughnecks, a professional soccer team playing in the North American Soccer League. The team won the 1983 Soccer Bowl.

Survivors include his daughter, Morgan Loewenherz, son Michael Loewenherz and his wife Monica, grandson Dylan Kahler of Washington D.C., granddaughter Makenna Loewenherz (Lawrence, Kansas), sisters Rose Ann Pearce (Fayetteville, Arkansas) and Lucy Pigott (Rio Rancho, New Mexico), nephew, Jeremy Pearce of Los Angeles, California, adopted daughter, Jennifer Loewenherz, and her daughter Lillian of Edmond, Okla. He was preceded in death by his mother Doris E. Pearce, his stepfather Stewart A. Pearce, sister, Jan Ellen Pearce and brother, Stewart A. Pearce II. A Celebration of Life for Rick is planned in late October in Tulsa, Okla.
