Patricia Ann Lingle
1943-2024

Patricia Ann Lingle, 81 of Marion, Illinois, and formerly of Goreville, Illinois, entered eternal rest on Monday, July 22, 2024, at 4:50 a.m. She was born on Monday, February 15, 1943, in Fon Du Lac, Wisconsin, the daughter of Jay Edward and Marion Virginia (Langlois) Potter. On June 22, 1963, she married Clyde Ernest Lingle in Maywood, Illinois, and together they shared over 45 years of marriage before his passing on January 4, 2009.

Pat was a 1961 graduate of Proviso East High School in Maywood, Illinois. After high school, she worked at Roses’, a neighborhood market where she met Clyde. After moving to Southern Illinois, she worked as a cook at Goreville Schools. From there, she went on to cook for many years in student dining at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, until she retired in 2006. She also volunteered for many years cooking at the local 4-H Camp. It was during her time at SIUC that she welcomed many students and their families to join her and her family at holidays and other special events. Many became lifelong friends. Pat often expressed her love and kindness to others by preparing meals and delivering them to those experiencing illness or loss. She was grateful for her friends and family and blessed by her time with them.

She is survived by her daughter, Michelle (Philip) Roberts of Marion, IL; grandsons, Nicholas (Sarah) Roberts of Crossville, IL, Brendan (Cheyenne) Roberts of Raymore, MO, and Ethan (Christine) Roberts of West Frankfort, IL; great-grandchildren, Eloise Finley, Ezekiel David, Otto Willoughby, Adalind Maud, and Amos Ray; sisters, Mildred Cisneros of Bedford, IN, and Barbara (Don) Shirley of Bedford, IN; bonus family members, Christy Rector, Tanya Musumhi, Heberto and Patricia Santana, along with their children, Maria, Isabel, and, Sofia; Special Friends Susan Beckman, Faye Barnett, and Theresa Bowns; brothers-in-law, Jerry Lingle and Howard Lingle and several nieces and nephews.

Pat was preceded in death by her husband and parents, brothers Robert and Phillip Potter; sister, Marie Lingle; mother and father-in-law, Ina Mae and Ernest Lingle; brothers-in-law, Richard Lingle and Juan Cisneros; sisters-in-law, Anna Belle Rector-Abbey, Donna Potter and Janice Lingle, and a dear friend, Elsie Anderson.

A graveside funeral service for Pat Lingle will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at Bethlehem Cemetery, 900 Robin Woods Lane, Tunnel Hill, IL, with interment following immediately. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Goreville First Baptist Church, 608 West Main Street, Goreville, IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to either Goreville First Baptist Church or Bethlehem Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Roberts family with assistance from Jordan Funeral Group and Pyle Funeral Homes
