Clifford Kelly Edwards, 73, of Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, March 12, 2025, at Saline Care Center in Harrisburg, Illinois. He was born on September 15, 1951, in Enfield, Illinois, the son of Clifford Edgar and Sarah LaVere (Biggerstaff) Edwards. Kelly graduated from Enfield High School in 1969. He went on to attend and graduate from Rend Lake College and Eastern Illinois University. Kelly worked as a Postal Clerk for the United States Post Office in Virginia until retirement.

Timothy Warren Berger, 74, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025, at Premier Healthcare of New Harmony, in New Harmony, Indiana. He was born on October 6, 1950, in Evansville, IN the son of Clifford Warren and Virginia Lea (Hill) Berger. Tim married Karen Sue Kallenbach at the First Christian Church in Carmi on October 5, 1971, and she preceded him in death on August 14, 1992. He proudly served his country for 23 years in the United States Navy, retiring as Chief Petty Officer. Tim then went on to work for the Illinois State Police for 16 years, retiring in 2012, as a dispatcher. He was a past president of the Cemetery Board for White County Memorial Garden in Carmi and most recently served as the Vice President. Tim was also a member of the Carmi Rifle Club.

LeLane Cannon Taylor, 85, of Gilbertsville, Kentucky died Thursday, March 6, 2025 at 6:50 a.m. at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. LeLane was born June 7,1939 in Pratt, Kansas. She was the only child of Albert “Bud” and Alberta Pauline “Polly” Cannon. She was born nine years into their marriage and they doted on her, she never lacked for anything especially unconditional love. People of boundless faith, her parents raised her to love the Lord. In turn, she spent her lifetime showing unconditional love. Growing up in the Calvin Bottoms, LeLane enjoyed an idyllic childhood. Her home was filled with friends and many days were spent swimming in the family's cement pond. As a teenager, LeLane had the coolest cars and was fond of drag racing with the local boys. She usually won. Long before cell phones, the news of her escapades always reached her Dad before she returned home! Her lead foot tendencies carried into adulthood earning her the nickname Mario.

Donald Eugene Sims, 75, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2025. He was born on June 1, 1949, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of James Hugh and Jane (McSparin) Sims. Donald married Donna Kay Sprague on September 4, 1971, and she survives. He graduated from Crab Orchard High School in 1967, and went on to study at SIU graduating with a Forestry Degree. Donald worked at AMAX Coal Company, Peabody Coal, and most recently at Cantrell Oil Company. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Carmi, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Point of Light Sunday School class. He was also a lifetime member of the NRA. Donald enjoyed being outside, mowing the lawn and hiking.

Barbara Ann Sherrard, 80, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Wabash Senior Living in Carmi. She was born on April 5, 1944, in Mesa, Arizona, the daughter of Alvin F. and Roberta N. (Arrowsmith) Sherman. Barbara married Donald E. Sherrard on March 28, 1968, in Chandler, Arizona. He preceded her in death on August 29, 2017. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Barbara worked as a crossing guard in Mesa, Arizona. She loved sewing and quilting and doing genealogy.
