G. Virginia Hughes, 94, of Carmi, passed away on Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born on July 11, 1929, in Norris City, Illinois, the daughter of Arnold and Gladys (Ward) Gidcumb. Virginia married William Houston Hughes on September 1, 1956, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 2013. She was a sales rep for Studio Girl Cosmetics and later for Celebrity Jewelry. She later went on to work at Walmart in the jewelry department and then as a caregiver. Virginia was a member of First Baptist Church and later attended Cherry St. Baptist Church in Carmi. She enjoyed sewing, doing hair and makeup, and most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and expressing her faith.

She was born May 29, 1936, in West Frankfort, Illinois, the daughter of James Robert Wynn and Veneta Bernice (Taylor) Wynn. She was married to Curtis E. Musgrave on December 14, 1955, and he preceded her in death on December 1, 2020.

He was born on April 8, 1945, in White County, Illinois, the son of James Robert and Edith (McKenzie) Allen. Jim married Joyce Talley on February 12, 1965, and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2004. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Jim owned and operated Jim Allen Trucking in Norris City until retirement. He also helped farm alongside his brother-in-law, Bobby Joe and Trish Talley and their family. JIm enjoyed hunting, listening to music, and spending time with his friends and family.
