Greg Alan Bingman, 65 of Ft. Wright, passed away on October 30, 2023. Greg started his career in Dawson Springs, Kentucky as the band director and continued serving as a band director for Holmes High School. He retired as the IT director from Covington Schools in 2017. He always enjoyed taking vacations to the beach with his family. He loved his girls and attended all of their sporting events and dance recitals. Greg had a profound impact on the hundreds of students he came in contact with. He was not just a teacher – he was a leader, role model, and was well respected by all who knew him. He shared his love of music with everyone he encountered.

William Wayne Lichtenberger, age 90, went home to be with his Lord on October 28, 2023 in Mesa, AZ. Wayne was born on September 25, 1933 in Carmi, Illinois to William and Gladys Lichtenberger.
Marianna “Mimme” ConnerNorris City, IL
Marianna "Mimme" Conner, 78, of Norris City, passed away on Monday, October 30, 2023, at her residence with her kids by her side. She was born on November 28, 1944, in Eldorado, Illinois, the daughter of Dalton and Madaline (Hill) Bishop. Marianna married James O. Conner on January 27, 1973, and he preceded her in death on October 19, 1999. She graduated from Norris City High School in 1963, Marianna went on to beauty school and worked as a beautician for many years. She later owned Mariann's Nook of Charm out of her home until retirement. She grew up in the Presbyterian Church, and attended Cumberland Presbyterian Church with her husband. Marianna enjoyed going to rummage sales and resell shops. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Marianna would never say goodbye, but would say "Love Love."
Franklin B. “Frank” HardinMt. Vernon, IN
Franklin B. "Frank" Hardin, 68, of Mt. Vernon, IN passed away at 3:15 pm on Sunday, October 29, 2023. He was born in Evansville, IN on November 4, 1954, the son of Franklin Delano and Elizabeth (Cain) Hardin. Frank was a graduate of Mt. Vernon High School and went on to work for General Electric. While working with General Electric, he served as a member of their Safety Team. Frank also was a member of the Black Township Fire and Rescue for close to 20 years, where he served in many positions up to and including Deputy Chief. He was a member of Ridge Baptist Church in Grayville, IL and was a part of the First Baptist Church Men’s Group in Carmi, IL. Frank also helped with the Cherry St. Food Pantry. He enjoyed duck hunting, goose hunting, and was a member of Ducks Unlimited.

Pamala M. Whetstone, 69, of Carmi, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. She was born on February 8, 1954, in Carmi, Illinois, the daughter of Raymond "Tige" and Ruby Jean (Nichols) Austin. Pam graduated from Carmi High School in 1972.
Harold Dean “Danny” Holland, JrCarmi, IL
Harold Dean "Danny" Holland, Jr, 78, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, October 23, 2023, at Marion VA Hospital in Marion, Illinois. He was born on March 29, 1945, in Harrisburg, Illinois, the son of Harold Dean and Majorie Frances (Fowler) Holland. Danny married Pricilla Ann Calkin on December 8, 1963, and she survives. He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. Danny worked in the oil field for various companies throughout his life. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Jackie C. Brown, 88, of Carmi passed away on Friday, October 20, 2023 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born in Yell City, Arkansas on July 1, 1935 the daughter of Harmon Vernon and Eunice Cleo (Cooper) Greer. Jackie moved to Texas where she met Loy Lee Brown. They were married in McAllen, TX on November 29, 1958 and he preceded her in death on March 7, 2017. Jackie was a long time member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church. She loved to read and bowl, watching bowling and really loved watching and rooting on the Dallas Cowboys.

Bette Jean SmithCarmi, IL
Bette Jean Smith, 87, of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, October 21, 2023, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born on April 6, 1936, in Enfield, Illinois, the daughter of John Pender "Jack" and Evelyn E. (Abba) Smith. Bette graduated from Enfield High School and went on to earn her Bachelor's Degree from Indiana State University of Evansville and then completed her Master's Degree from Indiana State University in Terre Haute. She worked as a third grade teacher at Lincoln School in Carmi until retirement. Bette was an avid St. Louis Cardinal fan and enjoyed watching them play baseball.
