Muriel "Janie" Kimbrell, 89, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024. She was born on April 23, 1934, in Geddes, South Dakota, the daughter of Isadore Samuel and Rose Frances (Kubal) Swanz. Janie married James Robert Kimbrell on May 12, 1979, and he preceded her in death on April 10, 2009. .Janie proudly served her country in the United States Army. She worked as a bookkeeper for O'Daniel Trucking as well as for Paul Hoskins.
Janie is survived by her daughter, Beverly Ann Bridgeman of Lakeland, FL; siblings, Gene Swanz of Bellefouche, SD; and Donna Webber of Watertown, SD; four grandchildren, Allen Bridgeman, Kimberly Lucas, Lesa Gonzales and Brian Kimbrell; and fifteen great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, James Robert "Bob" Kimbrell, she is preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Donald Swanz, Doris Jaeger, Mildred, Niehus and Joan Watts.
Funeral services for Janie Kimbrell will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at North Maple Ridge Cemetery in Carmi, with full military honors provided by the Carmi VFW and American Legion. Family and friends may visit from 9:00 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday, April 2, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi is in charge of arrangements.
