Mary D. Mitchell Casey Rodgers passed away peacefully on November 13, 2023, in Carmi, IL. She was born March 20, 1928, in rural Herod, in Saline County, IL to the late James Henry and Ollie (Olby May) Mitchell. Mary married Arlie V. Casey on June 22, 1946, and he passed away on Nov 1, 1974. Mary married Willard Rodgers on Sept 30, 1995, and he passed away on November 14, 2017.Mary believed in doing a job well, whether she was working at a paying job or in her home or community. She was the youngest in a larger family, and her home was always open - to her siblings, her nieces and nephews, (some who were older than her), and their families, as well as neighbors and friends. She had a sweet spirit & cared for everyone, and was a great friend. She always believed she and anyone else could achieve anything they truly wanted to.Mary's pride and joys include children; Curtis V Casey, Stephen R Casey (2003) Nancy J Winter, and Jeffrey N Casey (1957), Stepchildren; Mike (Karen 2020) Rodgers, Brenda Bramley, Pam Plegge, and Jay Rodgers Grandchildren; Angela (Brian) Turner, Charisse Winter (Brandon Igdalsky), Neil (Lauren) Winter, Step grandchildren Tracy Rodgers-Greer, Ryan Bramley, and Beth Bramley. Great grandchildren; Brandon Turner, Brittany Turner, Ada Winter, Kara Greer White, and Brianna Greer. Great- Great Grandchildren; Kysen and Drea Greer. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her parents, her husbands, her sons Steve and Jeff, her step-daughter Karen Rodgers, and all of her and Arlie’s siblings and their spouses: John (Maggie) Mitchell. Iva (Howard) Milligan, James (Callie) Mitchell, Arthur Mitchell, Clifford Mitchell, Archie (Sarah) Mitchell, Dolora Mitchell, Elvis (Millie) Mitchell, Darnell (Mary) Casey, Guy (Laverne) Casey, Mary (Bill) Pearce, Rudel (Lu) Casey, and James Milliard (Lorraine) Casey.Visitation for Mary will be held Saturday, November 18, 2023, from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM at Cox & Son Funeral Home in Ridgway, IL. Funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM. She will be laid to rest at Leamington Cemetery.Donations made by made to the following: Roads Church, Norris City, Emmanuel Church, Carmi or Leamington Cemetery.
