1984-2024
Jeri Lynn Hester of Evansville, Indiana, walked into the gates of heaven hand in hand with her father on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the age of 40. Born on March 9, 1984, in Tucson, Arizona, she was raised in Carmi, Illinois, where she graduated from Carmi-White County High School in 2002.
Jeri worked as an Assembly Technician at Matrix Design Group. She absolutely loved her job and all her co-workers, and she was incredibly grateful for the kindness, compassion, and encouragement they provided during her battle.
She was actively involved in The Hills Church and recently committed herself to God on October 6, 2024.
Jeri is preceded in death by her father, Jerry Applewhite; her grandmother, Sandra Grawey; and her niece, Annalyn Denton. She would not want to leave out her precious dogs, Alex, Chunk, and Casey Jane, who will be there to greet her.
She is survived by her daughter, Brylee Nicole, who was her most precious treasure and her guiding light during her fight. Brylee's father, Justin Flora, is an amazing dad to Brylee and a great friend to Jeri. She is also survived by her mother, Dena Applewhite; her sisters, Keyair Denton and her spouse Chad Denton; Heather Applewhite and significant other Justin James.
Jeri was the best aunt anyone could ask for. Her nephews, Conner Denton (Gabbie Broshears) and great-nephew Cody Denton, Bryson Applewhite; and her nieces, Kaylee Vance, Camden Denton, and Kinzy Vance, always cherished spending time with Aunt Jeri. She loved each and every one of them deeply.
To know Jeri was to know kindness and strength. She courageously fought pancreatic cancer as a single mother to her daughter, Brylee. Her strength and determination will continue to inspire all who knew her. She was strong, independent, and wore her heart on her sleeve. Jeri always made time for her friends and family whenever they needed her.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff at Deaconess Infusion Center for the care and compassion they showed her and her daughter throughout her treatments. The family will always hold them in a special place in their hearts. They are truly angels on Earth. Special thanks also go to the many members and ladies of Hadi Shriners, who provided meals, friendship, comfort, and assistance throughout her fight.
Lastly, to Jeri's friends-without naming everyone-she cherished each one of you. You helped make the good times better and the tough times a little easier.
