Herdis Lee Wells. 84, of Norris City passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2024 at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, IN.  He was born on May 28, 1940 in Mt. Vernon, Indiana the son of Richard F. and Laura Lucille (Wiggins) Wells.  Herdis had worked for Dernaco Construction and Engineering in Casper, WY as a welder on the pipeline. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force.

Herdis loved life. He never met a stranger or someone he couldn't help. He loved to fish above all. Herdis was a loving father, husband, brother and grandfather. He has left this world and is in heaven with our Lord and Savior and we will see him again,

Herdis is survived by his daughter, Sherri (Steve) Tolley of Harrisburg; a son, Vincent Wells of Mt. Vernon, IN; six grandchildren, Rebekah (Brandon) Boatright, Danielle Wells, Christina Green, Brandon Kegler, Jessica Mosley and Felicia Enlow; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul (Annette) Wells, Ellis (Vangy) Wells, George Wells, Carl (Nancy) Wells; sisters, Brenda Jones and Jane Pfettscher; and in-laws, Frieda Wells, Pearl Wells, Pat Wells and Glenn Reich.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Gregory Wells, daughter, Lucinda Kegler, siblings, Kenny Wells, Charles Wells, Richard Wells, Eugene Wells and Linda Reich; and a brother-in-law, Butch Jones.

A private family graveside service for Herdis Wells, 84, of Norris City will be held in Union Ridge Cemetery near New Haven with full military honors. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is assisting the family with arrangements.
