Edward Earl Douglas
1938-2024

Edward Earl Douglas, 85, of Omaha, IL, passed away on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, at his residence. He was born on August 20,1938 in Columbus, OH, the son of Earl and Freda Faye (Cox) Douglas. On February 1, 1958, he married Edna Kathryn Grant in Eldorado, IL and together they shared over 65 years of marriage before her passing on August 28, 2023. Edward served his country honorably in the United States Army. After many years working in the communication industry as a telephone equipment installer for Indiana Bell and then AT&T, Edward retired and drove for Bi-Petro out of Norris City, IL. He was a member of the Norris City United Cumberland Presbyterian Church and the American Legion-Indian Creek Post # 109 in Norris City.   Edward enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially hiking and had helped to map and form the River to River Trail System that runs through the Shawnee National Forest. He was a man of faith and a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, who enjoyed spending time with his family and church family.Edward is survived; two daughters, Stacy (Dale) Mallard of Washington, Utah and Melanie (Blake) Krueger of Jasper, IN; four grandchildren, Erin (Jon) Sommerville, Kyle Mallard, Cal (Sarah) Krueger and Kara Krueger; great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Joseph, Ezra and Rilyn; a brother, Melvin Ralph Douglas of Newburgh, IN; and several nieces and nephews.  Along with his wife Kathy, he was preceded in death by his parents.     Funeral services for Edward Earl Douglas will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 25, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with burial in Mt. Oval Cemetery near Norris City. Family and friends may visit on Sunday, March 24, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Edward’s memory to the United Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Norris City and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821
