Donald Marvin Kirsch
1945 - 2023

Donald Marvin Kirsch, 78, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Tuesday, November 28, 2023 in Mcleansboro.  Donald was born on November 1, 1945 to Valentine “Val” Kirsch and Mary Anna “Annie” (Aydt) Kirsch.  On March 2, 1973 he married Phillis Rossine (Floyd) Kirsch, who preceded him in death on April 1, 2022.

Donald was a farmer, and was a member of the American Legion Post 1126 in Springerton, IL; a member of the Mcleansboro Eagles Aerie 2699, the Coyote Club in McLeansboro, the Hamilton County Ageless Iron Tractor Club, and was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Piopolis, IL.  He loved farming and loved to collect and restore antique tractors.  He enjoyed spending time with his friends and family, and he loved his children and grandchildren very much.

Donald is survived by a daughter Twyla Hungate of McLeansboro, 2 sons: Christopher (Angela) Lueke of Carmi, IL and Jason (Mari) Kirsch of McLeansboro; 7 grandchildren: Danielle Trotter, Justine Chambliss, Hannah Lueke, Lucas Lueke, Keagan Johnson, Chloe Kirsch, and Oliver Kirsch; 4 great grandchildren, 2 sisters: Donna (Eugene) Brockett of McLeansboro and Marilyn Gade of Florida; and a sister-in-law Irene Zenthoefer of Lockport, LA.

He was preceded in death by his parents Val & Annie Kirsch, and his wife Phillis Rossine Kirsch.

A graveside memorial service for Donald Marvin Kirsch will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at Old Springer Cemetery in Blairsville, IL with Pastor Rick Floyd officiating.  Those attending the service are asked to meet directly at the cemetery.  Those attending the graveside service, are invited to attend a meal immediately following the service at the American Legion Post 1126 at 314 N. Main Street, Springerton, IL  62887.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Legion Post 1126, and will be accepted at the American Legion or at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro.  Online condolences and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.gholsonfuneralhome.com
