1962 - 2024
Cynthia Jean Siegert, age 62, passed away peacefully in her home in The Villages of Florida on Tuesday, September 24th, 2024. Cindy was born on May 20th, 1962 to Chester Vernon Siegert Jr. and Mary Jean (Broster) Siegert.
She was a graduate of Grayville High School Class of 1980 and went on to work for the Illinois Attorney General’s Office in Benton and Mt. Vernon, Illinois. After serving there, she continued her education at Southern Illinois University and received a Bachelor degree in Information Systems Technology. Cindy used her degree as an Assistant to the Director of IST at USI Carbondale until relocating back to Grayville and then onto The Villages in Florida. Cindy had a fun personality and was a very loving individual.
She loved hiking at state parks with her niece Stacey and took great care of her German Shepard Hildie. Cindy looked forward to traveling with various family members and did so often traveling to places such as Colorado, Florida, and the Caribbean. Cindy was part of a championship volleyball team and was a varsity cheerleader in High School. She was an outstanding cook who enjoyed making beef and noodles, chowder soup, fried chicken with gravy, and chess cake.
Cindy is survived by her siblings Sue (Gene) Powell, Barbara (Bill) Ballard, Lisa (Nate) Siegert-Free, and Charles (Dena) Siegert; nieces and nephews Stacey (Wes) Snyder, Brandon Siegert, Amelia (Dan) Allen, and Chase Powell; eight grand-nieces and nephews Cole, Ellie, Kyla, Max, Wren, Finn, Leo, and Amara; one great-grand niece Evelynn; one aunt Majorie Steele; several cousins including Bev Iles to whom she was very close. Cynthia is preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents, and nephew Christopher.
A memorial visitation and service will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, at Cook Funeral Chapel in Grayville, Illinois. Visitation is 2 pm and memorial service is at 3:30 pm.
