1932 - 2023

Bertha A. "Bert" Morris, 91, of Norris City, passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville, Indiana. She was born on August 5,1932, in Hamilton County, IL the daughter of Robert Newton and Bertha Agnes (Hughes) Edwards.  Bert married Francis E. "F.E." Morris on April 8, 1947 and he preceded her in death on April 4, 2012.  Bert was a lifelong member of Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church, where she was very active and served as an elder.  She enjoyed watching her daytime soap operas and Gunsmoke, as well as collecting antiques and costume jewelry.  Bert loved taking care of her kids and grandchildren and was a friend to everyone.     Bert is survived by her children, Bill (Charlotte) Morris, Alice Sutton and Marsha Price, all of Norris City, IL; six grandchildren, Shawnda (Kit DeCorrevont) Morris, Amanda (David W. Doerner) Cannon, Allison (Andrew) Grabert, Victoria (Justin) Woodrow, Scott (Tonya) Price and Gina (Bryan) Harms; 12 great-grandchildren, Tyler Gray, Morgan Warren, Seth Cannon, Asa Cannon, Lane Branson, Hallie Woodrow, Sawyer Woodrow, Arden Woodrow, Ashley Biggerstaff, Amber Price, Ethan Harms, and Bryley Harms; three great-great grandchildren; nephews, Brad and David Doerner; caregivers, Tammy Cleveland, Sonya McCluskey, Janet Vickers and Angie Hayes and dear friend, Rose Spence.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son, Francis Russell Morris; grandson, William  Chad Morris; two great-grandchildren; and three siblings, Wanda Edwards, Freda Doerner, and an infant brother.     Funeral services for Bertha A. "Bert" Morris, 91, of Norris City will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, September 18, 2023 at Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church near Norris City. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Monday, September 18, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bertha's memory to Village Cumberland Presbyterian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821 who is in charge of arrangements.
