Barbara Joyce Myatt, 67, of Norris City, left to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, June 14, 2024, at St. Vincent Hospital in Evansville, Indiana.
She loved the Lord our God and she was thankful everyday for the many blessings that were bestowed upon her. Barb's favorite book to read was The Holy Bible. She always said that book had every type of story you could imagine in it and it was very uplifting to her. The Lord blessed her with a musical talent. Barb loved playing the drums and singing. She loved to dance and most all types of music but her favorite was Christian music. She enjoyed spending time with her family and her favorite holidays were Thanksgiving and Christmas. When family would gather together and just be thankful for what they have.
Barb enjoyed going to her grandson Kamden’s ballgames and playing board games and cards and going to the movies with him and having him spend the night. Barb retired after spending 45 years in the banking industry. She started working for White County Bank in Carmi on September 15, 1977. She was a bookkeeper, proof operator, teller, computer operator, internal auditor, compliance officer and Assistant Vice President , the bank then changed to Integra Bank and she became their Help Desk coordinator and Senior Training Officer before going back to the Carmi Branch as manager. When the bank closed in 2011 she then went to work for Banterra Bank at their corporate office in Eldorado IL as the Deposit Operations Officer. That is where she retired after being there for 11 years.
Barb was the daughter of William “Bud” Knight and Dorothy Knight Carmi, IL who preceded her in death, along with a brother-in law James “Tennessee” Delong and great nephew: Jonah Goodman. She is survived by the love of her life and he was perfect for her Whitman (Whit) E Myatt . He was also known as “Unk” in the oilfield business. They were married on December 7, 1985. They didn’t do a lot of traveling but they always enjoyed riding their motorcycle and just taking long trips seeing the beauty of the country. Whit would always send her a dozen roses just because. He would pick wild flowers along the road coming home after a long day's work and bring them to her and their daughter Whitney just because he loved them. He would call and make random dates to meet her out to eat on a long day which Barb enjoyed so much. He was and is a devoted loving husband, father and grandfather whom she will miss dearly but will always be their guardian angel watching over them. She had one daughter who was her angel and who she loved so much and was so very proud of, Whitney Myatt and her companion John Melton. She had one grandson who was her buddy and loved dearly, Kamden Myatt, all of Norris City. They all three made her laugh all the time. When they were all together she didn’t have a chance because they teased her so much. Also surviving are a special granddaughter Caitlin and Chas Black and great granddaughter Harper Black of Ewing, IL.
Also surviving are her nine siblings: six Brothers and three sisters: William (Billy) and Jolene Knight, Carmi, whom she lived with for several years while growing up and they were like parents to her. She will always be so thankful for how they helped raise her and all they did for her. Mike Knight and companion Paula Dozier, Carmi, Steve and Connie Knight Grayville, Greg and Melissa Knight Carmi, Doug and Tammy Knight, Carmi, Rick and Kelly Knight Carmi, Elaine and John Endicott, Carmi, Sherry and Mike Blazier, Carmi and Teresa and Kevin Stocke, Carmi. Many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. She is proud of all of her family and she had two special nieces that were like sisters to her Jennifer and Tracy Crawford Carmi and Andrea and Josh Biggerstaff of Mt. Vernon, IN. Plus their kids: Grace, Genna, Delaney and Wastna Biggerstaff and Madaline Crawford.
Barb wishes to leave a message for everyone that you should thank God each and every day for what you have and love one another. Tell those who you love that you are proud of them and why you're proud of them. Life is too short no matter how old you get because we none know when our time will come to leave this world. Never go to bed upset and never leave your home upset. When you need someone to talk to, go to your Lord and Savior in prayer, he always listens and he’s always there for you. God Bless You All.
