Barbara Ann (Rose) Murdach, 79, of McLeansboro, IL passed away on Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at Marshal Browning Hospital in Du Quoin, IL.  Barbara was born on May 11, 1944 to Thomas “Benny” Rose & Ethel (Wisely) Rose.

Barbara was a retired Licensed Practical Nurse, who had worked at McLeansboro Healthcare & Rehabilitation for many years.  She had also previously worked as a seamstress at the sewing factory in Enfield, IL before going to nursing school.  She lived most of her life in McLeansboro before moving to Du Quoin in 2021 to be closer to her son and his family.  She enjoyed watching St. Louis Cardinals baseball games, visiting with friends, spending time with her grandchildren, and she loved her dog Daisy, who preceded her in death in February of 2023.

Barbara is survived by a daughter Lisa (Todd) Cottle of Colorado, 2 sons: Gregory (Donna) Murdach of Wayne City, IL and David (Annie) Murdach of Du Quoin, IL; 6 grandchildren: Erin Cottle, Ian Cottle, Amanda Murdach, Matthew Murdach, Benjamin Murdach, and Eli Murdach; several great grandchildren, a sister Sheila (John) Taylor of McLeansboro, and a brother Richard (Jane) Rose of Cobden, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents Benny & Ethel Rose, her long-time companion David Musgrave, and an ex-husband Stephen Murdach,

Graveside funeral services for Barbara Ann (Rose) Murdach will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, December 4, 2023 at Old Springer Cemetery in Blairsville, IL with Pastor Rick Floyd officiating.  A public visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon on Monday at Gholson Funeral Home in McLeansboro prior to the graveside service.
