Madison Martin, a freshman at Wabash Valley College, has been elected to serve as the Student Board Member on the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges Board of Trustees. Madison, who was elected by a student body vote at WVC, will be seated at the Board of Trustees meeting on April 21, held at Olney Central College. Madison will serve for one year. The student representation rotates each year within the four colleges in the District.
Madison is the daughter of Mark and DeeAndra Martin of Grayville, IL. She has two sisters, Alena and Keslie Martin. Madison is an active student on campus. She works in Student Services and serves as the Vice-President of the Science Club. After she graduates from WVC, she plans to transfer to the University of Southern Indiana. Her future goal is to become a Physician’s Assistant after attending graduate school.
In her candidate statement, Madison stated… “I believe I qualify for the Student Board Member of the Illinois Eastern Community Colleges because I am hard-working, caring, and a trustworthy person. I set a standard for myself not only to be diligent in my work, but also to help others with their load and to complete tasks quickly and correctly. I am a person who is sensitive about how others feel and try hard to make everyone feel included. In addition, I may be stubborn toward things I feel passion for, but I am also ambitious to move forward, and approachable. I enjoy being available to listen to others’ feelings, thoughts, and ideas. I hope to be responsible in helping further the college in any way possible.”
Madison looks forward to the road that lies ahead.
