On Wednesday, February 8th, White County Sheriff Doug Maier received word of a handgun stolen in White County in 2011 that was recovered in Panama City, Florida.
Panama City Police recovered the weapon that was reported stolen by Larry Gunter of Norris City. Sheriff Maier informed Gunter of the recovery, and arranged for the gun to be shipped back to the Sheriff’s Office.
Friday morning, the Sheriff’s Department took a report of missing batteries from a construction site near New Haven. Steve Boyd of Sierra Bravo told deputies five batteries were taken sometime last week.
Sheriff’s deputies took a report of a home intruder a burglary from two Crossville residents on Friday. Keaton Pollard and Kaitlin Shelton told officers they were asleep when around 1 am, they were awakened by the sound of someone moving in their house. Pollard stated he called out, and the intruder ran out of the residence, stealing his wallet and a bottle of vape juice. Neither Pollard or Shelton saw the intruder.
Saturday night, Sheriff’s deputies arrested 54 year old Jeffery Jones on a Wabash County warrant for domestic battery at his residence in Enfield. Jones was taken into custody at 5:52 pm and transported to the White County Jail, where he was later released after posting a $1000 bond.
