At 7:19 pm Sunday night, the White County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a donkey that had been shot near Grayville.
Chip Judge told deputies that his neighbors informed him that they had witnessed a visitor to their home had shot the animal in the road on County Road 2140 E after it had gotten out of its pasture. Judge later informed responding deputies that the animal died around 10:30 pm.
Deputies were not able to locate the suspect in the shooting for questioning, and no charges have been filed, but the investigation continues.
