White County Relay for Life Tops 2018 Goal

Goal achieved.  The 2018 White County Relay for Life has been labeled a financial success, according to co-chairwoman Patty Hodgson.  Over the weekend, the St. Louis Cardinals hosted a Relay for Life Day and many from White County were in attendance.  With the totals in from ticket sales to that game, Hodgson says the White County Relay reached more than $41,317, topping this year’s target of $40,000.

White County Relayers sold 752 tickets.  The Cardinals organization will add more than $7,000 from those ticket sales into the American Cancer Society.  Hodgson says the goal for ticket sales to next year’s game is 1,000.

Top teams from this year’s event were:

Drew’s Dragon Slayers, bringing in $11,706.30

Barb’s Brigade, bringing in $6,055.00

Hope Floats, bringing in $3,725.37

Individual honors go to Hodgson, which is no surprise given her contagious excitement for the Relay.  She brought in $5,510.  Her husband Jr came in next with nearly $2,600 and daughter Malissa was only $34 short of her father.

More than 16 teams, nearly 200 participants and 80 survivors took part in this year’s White County Relay for Life.  The next meeting will be a wrap up celebration and kick off for 2019 on Tuesday, September 11th at the Carmi Public Library.
