The White County Sheriff’s Office received a call in reference to a threat on social media between two juvenile subjects. The initial report indicated no threat or danger to the school system. The Carmi Police Department responded to assist. Due to the fact that both juveniles involved attend school at the Carmi White County School System the school was advised of the situation and Officers went to the school to locate the suspect. The juvenile was located at the school at approximately 7:35 A.M. and transported to the Sheriff’s Office.
At no time was there an active threat towards the school system and no indication that anyone at the school was in danger. The threat involved a photo of a subject with a gun and text message that said “I know where you live.” The threat made no mention about the school system or any indication of an issue there. The threat was sent at approximately 9:00 P.M. last night and reported to the Sheriff’s Office at 6:30 A.M. this morning.
The juvenile was interviewed at the Sheriff’s Office with his parents present. State’s Attorney Denton Aud was advised of the situation. The juvenile was released to his parents pending further action.
