White County Fatality Friday
Illinois State Police recently released information pertaining to a fatal traffic crash that occurred shortly before 7:30 Friday morning, that claimed the life of an Albion man.
According to the preliminary traffic incident report; 43 year old Ricky M. Michl of Albion was traveling west on Illinois 141, when he stopped at the intersection of White County Road 1200 East.
A Mercedes Sprint Van, driven by 64 year old Keith L. Gibson of Evansville was also westbound on Route 141 and said he did not realize Michl had stopped in the road and was unable to stop in time to avoid the collision.
Gibson and his passenger, Betina Michele Reynolds, 44 of Evansville were transported to a regional hospital with injuries.
Michl was also transported to a regional hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Gibson was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The investigation continued according to state police, who reported an Illinois State Police Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit Officer had joined the investigation.
Also assisting at the scene were the White County Sheriff’s Department, New Haven Fire Department, Ridgway Fire Department, White County Ambulance Service, Deaconess Ambulance Service, Vernelle’s Towing and Cherry Street Automotive.
