The hot and humid weather that plagued the White County Fair this past week didnʼt seem to faze the White County Democrats or the folks that visited the Democratic shelter at the fairgrounds in Carmi.
White County Democratic Chairman Nancy Mitchell thanked all of the people who showed interest in the upcoming elections and said she was pleased with the positive comments concerning the presidential elections. Although she did admit there were some “not so positive” remarks heard as well.
Mitchell went on to thank the local elected officials and candidates for their help manning the shelter and their contributions of gifts which were given away at the end of the week. She said close to 20 prizes were awarded to area residents following a drawing held Saturday evening.
County Clerk Paula Dozier, Supervisor of Assements Terry Ziegler-Abell, Circuit Clerk Kelly Fulkerson, County Board member Mike Ray, Coroner Chris Marsh along with county board candidate Tim Scates were recognized by Mitchell. She also recognized a number of precinct committeemen including vice chairman Tom Scates, Kern Doerner, Ron Hargrave, Mark Stevens, Randy Hamblin, Dale Shular, David Hays and Riley Matz. Mitchell thanked the commiteemen for their volunteer work, also thanking Melissa Kittinger for her help manning the shelter this year.
Mitchell added the Democrats will be active in the fall festivals set to begin in September and reminded everyone to vote in November.
