White County Board Will Meet Tuesday With What Looks Like a Busy Agenda

The White County Board will meet Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. On the agenda will be the adoption of the 2020 White County Budget, adoption of the 2019 payable 2020 Tax Levy for White County, Egyptian Health Department, Coleman Tri-County Services, and Extension Council Service, and approval of the payment of all county bills.

The board will also approve the resignation of James Totten as Director of EMA effective November 30, 2019, consider Resolution 2019-10-8-01 establishing a County Cannabis Retailer’s Occupation Tax in White County and Resolution 2016-00141 between White County Trustees and Charles and Lisa Browning for property located at 823 7th Street in Carmi.

There are several appointments the board will consider, Owen Garner to the Hawthorne Drainage District #2 for a term ending the First Tuesday in September 2011, Ronald Gwaltney to the Mud Creek Drainage District for a term ending the First Tuesday in September 2022, Terry West to the Half Moon Drainage District for a term ending the First Tuesday in September 2002, the re-appointment of Wes Trout as Commissioner of the White County Housing Authority Board for a 5-year term beginning with an effective date of August 2019, and the appointment of Nancy Jordan as Commissioner of the White County Housing Authority Board for a 5-year term beginning with an effective date of June 2019 to replace Joe Bisch.

The Board will consider a resolution with the Illinois States Attorney Appellate Prosecutor and White County in the amount of $8,000.

They will hear from Snedeker Insurance about the current policy and the changes that are affected, and will hear from Josh West who is petitioning the White County Board to vote to place an advisory public policy question on the ballot to be voted on by the people of White County at the General Election of Illinois to be held on November 3, 2020. The question reads, “Shall the Board of White County correspond with the Boards of other counties in the State outside of Cook County, and with the municipalities of Cook County outside of the city of Chicago, about the possibility of separating from the city of Chicago to form a new State, and to seek admission to the Union as such, subject to the approval of the people?”

There will also be reports from County Officers, comments from Visitors, and an Executive Session following the meeting to discuss Personnel and or Litigation.

WROY/WRUL News will have that meeting covered and we’ll bring you a full report on Wednesday’s newscast.
