White County Board to Reconvene September Meeting
The White County Board will meet in regular session Tuesday night for what appears to be a very busy agenda.
The meeting will actually open with the reconvening of the September board meeting, to allow the board to take a final vote on the 2019 budget, which as of late last week was still unbalanced. According to the posted budget on the county’s website, there is still a shortfall of over $200,000. Along with the budget, the board will also be asked to approve the tax levy for White County, Egyptian Health Department, Coleman Tri-County Services and the Extension Council Service.
Following those votes, the council will adjourn the September meeting and open the November meeting.
Air conditioning for the dog pound, White County’s side and the electrical bill will be revisited.
Cyber security will take up part of the meeting as the board will be asked to approve participation in the Illinois State Board of Elections Cyber navigator program.
The board will consider approval of appropriate funding for the State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutor service and funds for the payment of the county engineer’s salary.
Other business includes discussion on the White County Ambulance service, as the public safety tax referendum on last Tuesday’s ballot failed. The board will be asked to not accept a loan of $150,000 from First Bank. That loan would have been paid with money from the expected tax, that again did not pass.
The county board meets the second Tuesday of each month. The meetings are open to the public.
