We are the Champions
Break out the Queen CD, as “we are the Champions,” surely the tune that had to run through some of the Carmi White County Golf team and coaches minds as the Boys golf team won the Black Diamond Conference with a win yesterday in West Frankfort.
And the girls grabbed second place in the conference, bringing the trophies back to Carmi White County High School.
Coach Trey Mason was proud of his teams saying both the boys and girls were awesome. He explained the girls were a surprise second place, but was very proud of the ladies and guys.
Allie Gee was second all conference and Kate Dieg was seventh all conference.
The boys won the championship by 33 strokes with a final score of 314. Coach Mason said playing conditions were tough by the boys were awesome as well. He said looking back at the last three BDC championships, 329 was the highest score he found.
Oakely Gee was the medalist despite taking a triple bogey snowman 8 on the second hole. He got fired up and after that birdied the next two. His 3 under 69 was an outstanding achievement.
Coach Mason continued, “today was a total team effort as it has been all year. A couple guys slumped today and others stepped up.”
