Two White County residents were sentenced in White County Court on methamphetamine charges Wednesday according to States Attorney Denton Aud.
43 year old David Brockett of Carmi received a four year term in the Illinois Department of Corrections on a charge of possession of methamphetamine and four years on a charge of forgery. The two sentences will run concurrently. In addition, Brockett will be under mandatory supervised release for one year after incarceration, and was ordered to pay all mandated fines, fees, costs, and assessments, as well as make restitution to his victim.
Carmi Police arrested Brockett on May 5th, following an investigation by the department along with the White County Sheriff’s Department.
38 year old Heather Chitwood of Maunie was sentenced to three years in prison for possession of methamphetamine Wednesday as well. Chitwood will also be under mandatory supervised release for one year following incarceration and was ordered to pay all mandated fines, fees, costs, and assessments.
Chitwood was arrested by Carmi Police on April 2nd at the Carmi Motel after being called for a wellness check.
Judge Michael Valentine presided over both cases.
