Two sentenced in White County Court Monday

In White County Court on Monday, 28 year old Carly Schmittler of Grayville was sentenced to four years in prison for her role in aiding Justin Bray in his escape from the White County Jail on June 16th.  According to States Attorney Denton Aud, Schmittler pleaded guilty to a charge of attempted aiding escape and admitted to driving to Carmi with the purpose of aiding Bray.  In addition, Schmittler will be under mandatory supervised release for one year following incarceration and was ordered to pay court costs. Schmittler was represented by attorney Jonathan Turpin and was sentenced by Judge T Scott Webb.  The case was investigated by the White County Sheriff’s Department, Illinois State Police, and the US Marshalls Service.

23 year old Robert Worley of Carmi was sentenced to a total of ten years in prison on four felony counts Monday.  According to Aud, Worley had previously pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated driving under the influence on a revoked license and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.  He was sentenced to five years on each of those counts, and those sentences will run concurrently.  While out on bond on those charges, Worley was additionally charged with aggravated battery of a peace office and aggravated fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer.  Worley was additionally sentenced to five years each on those charges which will run concurrently, but consecutively to the original sentence.  The Norris City Police Department was the arresting agency and Worley was represented by Public Defender Brian Shinkle.  Judge T Scott Webb presided over the case.
