In Hamilton County Court on Thursday, 34 year old Thomas C Garrison of McLeansboro was sentenced to ten years in Illinois Department of Corrections custody after pleading guilty to a charge of burglary. According to States Attorney Justin Hood, Garrison stole a Stack On gun safe from the Town and Country Veterinary Clinic on September 22, 2016. While leaving the scene, the safe fell out of Garrison’s truck.
Garrison is currently serving a two year sentence for possession of methamphetamine. The burglary sentence will run concurrently. The case was investigated by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department and assisted by the Illinois State Police and the McLeansboro Police Department.
18 year old Brett H Ewald of Dahlgren was sentenced to 15 years in prison after pleading to a count of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. The offence occurred between July 4th and November 24th, 2016.
After his incarceration, Ewald will be under mandatory supervised release for a period of three years to life as determined by the Department of Corrections.
Ewald admitted to committing the act on a female juvenile under the age of 13. The Illinois State Police investigated the case.
