Two men were sentenced in White County Court on Wednesday, according to White County States Attorney Denton Aud.
35 year old Anthony Bennett, who has listed addresses in both Carmi and Chicago, was sentenced to 5 years in prison on a charge of failure to register as a sex offender, and another 5 year sentence for obstructing justice.
The two sentences will run concurrently, and Bennett was also ordered to pay all mandated fines, fees, costs, and assessments. He will be under mandatory supervised release for one year after incarceration.
Bennett was arrested on February 21st by the Carmi Police Department.
Later on Wednesday, 37 year old James T. Richardson of Evansville, Indiana was sentenced to five years in Illinois Department of Corrections custody on one count of burglary, and five years for possession of a stolen vehicle. The two sentences will run concurrently.
Richardson was also ordered to pay all fines, fees, costs, and assessments, as well as restitution to his victim.
Richardson was arrested April 26th. The Grayville Police Department investigated the case, with assistance from the Carmi Police Department and Evansville Police Department.
