Two Injured in Wayne County Crash
A pickup truck driver was cited on multiple charges and two people were sent to a local hospital following a two vehicle crash around 2:40 Saturday afternoon in Wayne County.
Kacey A. Klug, 25 of Albion and Kathleen C. Klug, 52, also of Albion were transported by ambulance to an area hospital for injuries sustained in the crash. The Klugs were in a passenger car westbound on Illinois Route 15 near Wayne County Road 2700 East, when a pickup driven by 29 year old Steve R. Jackson of Golden Gate slammed into the Klug passenger vehicle.
The impact of the crash caused the Klug vehicle to leave the roadway and come to rest, partially submerged in a flooded ditch.
Jackson was cited for failure to yield at a stop intersection, operating a motor vehicle using an electronic communications device and operating an uninsured vehicle.
Illinois State Police were assisted at the scene by the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department, Wayne County Ambulance, Fairfield Rural Fire, Edwards County Ambulance and Rick’s Towing Service.
