Carmi Police arrested two people following a traffic stop Thursday morning.
At 10:15 am, officers pulled over a truck driven by 36 year old Shawn Jones of Carmi. The truck’s Indiana license plates came back as belonging to a car and were not authorized for the vehicle. A search of the vehicle turned up a broken pipe that tested positive for methamphetamine. Another meth pipe was found in Jones’ sock.
A passenger, 31 year old Holly Miller of Carmi attempted to remove clothing from the vehicle, and another meth pipe was found in them. A search of Miller’s purse found items that Miller admitted to stealing from Walmart.
Jones and Miller were transported to the White County Jail. Jones was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and unlawful display of vehicle registration. Miller was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and retail theft. Both are being held without bail pending a court hearing.
