Township Approves Levy and Receives Good Audit Report

The 2024-2025 Township Tax Levy sat on display for twenty days with no objection and was approved in the December meeting. The total tax levied is $737,900, which includes the road fund of $346,500 and the town fund of $391,400.

A Botsch and Associate representative did not attend the Carmi Township meeting but instead sent a letter acknowledging that the Township was in a great place financially. Attorney Greg Stewart read a snippet from the letter,

“Financial statements appear to be reasonable. We issued an unmodified opinion, meaning that during the course of the audit, Botsch and Associates did not find any material differences in financial reports provided. The Township remains in a very strong financial position with overall equity totaling just under 2.6 million.”

Moving on in the meeting, Road Commissioner Chris McEwing updated the board that they have completed OSHA citations and that the only thing left to finish is the CPR and Hazard Material classes.

Township Supervisor Pam Deig discussed the two trustee reappointments to the Cemetery Board. Brandon Huff and Clinton Wolff were approved to be reappointed by the Township board for another four-year term.

The next Township meeting will be on January 14th, 2025, at 6 PM.
