Three Mt. Carmel residents were injured in a head on crash in Gibson County on Thursday night.
Indiana State Police and the Gibson County Sheriff’s Department arrived on the scene of the accident that occurred at 8:40pm on SR 64 near CR 970 West. The initial report states that for unknown reasons, 33 year old Jessica Perry crossed into the westbound lane and struck a vehicle driven by 19 year old Austin Olvera.
Olvera was transported to Wabash General Hospital where he was treated and released. His passenger, 22 year old Heaven Simpson, was taken by ambulance to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville for her injuries. Perry had to be extracted from her vehicle and was transported by Lifeflight helicopter to St. Mary’s Hospital in Evansville.
Authorities say both vehicles were totaled in the accident, which closed SR 64 for nearly two hours. The investigation is ongoing, and officers were assisted at the scene by the Owensville Fire Department, Montgomery Township Fire Department, Gibson County EMS, Wabash County EMS, and the Mt. Carmel Fire Department.
