Thanksgiving Meal Available for Those in Need

Thanksgiving Meal Available for Those in Need

Carmi Churches, businesses, civic organizations and a large number of local citizens have banded together again this year to provide a Thanksgiving meal for those who otherwise  may not have a special holiday meal.

The meal will be served from 11 until 1, Thursday, Nov. 22 (Thanksgiving) at the First Christian Church at the corner of Plum and Bohleber in Carmi. There is no cost for the meal.

For those unable to attend the dinner, transportation or a home-delivery can be obtained by calling 382-8082. Everyone planning to attend or receiving a home delivered meal needs to call no later than Tuesday, Nov. 20 to let organizers know if you will be eating on site, you need transportation or would like a home delivery.

Last year, 316 meals were delivered, 47 folks were picked up and close to 60 people enjoyed the meal and company at the church. There were at least 50 members of the community that assisted by cooking turkeys, serving meals, delivering meals and help to clean up.

The meal is free, as all costs are covered by donations from individuals and the various churches and organizations.
