Temporary Closure of Rend Lake’s North Gun Creek Neck for Electrical Transmission Line Work.

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at Rend Lake is announcing the closure of the North Gun Creek Neck, located north of Highway 154 and west of the Interstate 57, during the period of October 10 thru October 13, 2017. This 4-day closure will allow Ameren Illinois to remove the old electric lines and pull new electric transmission lines across this section of Rend Lake.

Beginning at approximately 10:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2017, the Rend Lake Conservancy District boat ramp, also known as north gun creek boat ramp, will be closed. This boat ramp is located off of Gun Creek Trail, north of Highway 154. For safety reasons, the boat ramp will remain closed until the work is complete in this section of the lake. The water portion of the closure will be closed from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each day while Ameren Illinois workers are completing the wire pull. Ameren Illinois will have safety boats stationed at the Hwy 154 and I-57 Gun Creek bridges to secure the area during these times.

The public is asked to honor all caution signage and closures posted in the area. Notice will be given when the area is re-opened.
