Tax Levy Tops Norris City Village Board Meeting
The tax levy ordinance was passed in the amount of $184,580 out of $4,101,017 appropriated.
The board approved $177,000 in payment for the trickling filter repair at the sanitary plant. Insurance will pay for a large of portion of the work.
The acidizing of the two water wells went very well, as they’re now almost operating like they were when they were new.
A water line repair will be done by JCB Construction Enterprises and the cost should be just under $1,000.
In TIF district news, the board approved an ordinance transferring house development from Barbara Wilkinson to Jennifer Davis of Davis Construction.
Also approved was a class C liquor license to El Mexicano Restaurant.
The board members agreed to a sponsorship of NCOE Basketball on WROY for the months of December through March.
There have been several groups selling electricity in town door to door. Mayor Roy Kissel stressed that those groups should first visit the village hall and sign a receipt for a nominal fee authorizing them to sell.
The board will look into possibly contributing to upgrade the backstop and fence at Beatty Field.
They also approved the meeting dates and times for 2019. They will continue to be held on the first Monday of each month at 7 PM at the village building.
In the police report for November, there were no arrests made, seven citations issued and 12 9-1-1 calls.
The board went into a 15 minute executive session and decided to give all full and part time employees a 50 cent an hour pay increase.
Board members were reminded that the annual Christmas dinner will be held on Saturday, December 15th at the Hideout in Marion.
The next village board meeting will be Monday, January 2th at 7 P.M.
