Tax Levy Tops McLeansboro Council Meeting

 

The meeting was moved to 4:30 PM Tuesday due to the high school basketball game later that evening.

The annual tax levy for the fiscal year of May 1st 2018 to April 30th 2019 was approved. The total amount of appropriations is $10.150,355.

Concerning the auger truck for the electric department, the council decided to do a cost analysis of the type of structure needed to house the vehicle.

They approved the amending of the city ordinance to add one Class E-1 liquor license and accepted the request of Debra Wells of Main Street Diner, located at 109 West Main.

Regular meeting dates for city council were approved. They will continue to be on the Second Tuesday of each month at 6 PM, unless otherwise posted.

The annual city Christmas party on Wednesday at 6 PM has been moved to the Trackers Lodge at 208 South Washington Street and the Fire Department Christmas party is at 6 PM on Saturday.

An executive session was held for about 15 minutes to discuss the appointment and/or compensation of full-time police and/or part-time employees. Council agreed to hire Justin Webb as full-time police officer and to hire three part-time officers: Kelsey Bowman, Robert Crow and Lane Wellen. Three employees were given $75 Christmas bonuses: Library Director Ginger Finley, Zoning Administrator Pat Stevens and Housekeeper Amanda Kay.

The meeting adjourned at 5:01 PM.
