Opdyke-Belle Rive Grade School student-athletes were recently recognized at the school’s annual Sports Banquet. Pictured are basketball players who received team awards for their leadership and performance in the 2016-17 season, along with two players who reached the 1,000 point milestone at OBR.
FROM LEFT: Dylan Harkins (Class of ’17) received Team MVP and the 1,000 Point Award (1,077 points in JV/Varsity games from 2013-2017). Harkins led the Roadrunners this year in steals (61), assists (122) and free throw percentage (75%) in 20 games. He averaged 17 points per game. Landon James (Class of ’17) received the Chairman of the Boards Award. James led OBR in blocked shots (27) and rebounds (221) in 26 games. Kayden McGee (Class of ’19) received the Rising Star Award. McGee played 55 quarters in varsity contests this season. He scored 105 points (4.38 per game) on 42% from the field and 3-point range, and 71% from the free throw line. Blake Dees (Class of ’16) received the 1,000 Point Award (1,356 points in JV/Varsity games from 2012-2016). Tyler Lyday (Class of ’17) received the Top Gun Award. Lyday led the Roadrunners this season with 393 points – 183 from 3-point range – and scored a team-high 37 points against Ewing on Jan. 6. They are pictured with OBR Head Coach Nathan Wheeler
