28 year old James Steele of Enfield is behind bars facing misdemeanor theft charges as well as a felony count of possession of methamphetamine. The lengthy report released Friday by the White County Sheriff’s Office reveals authorities worked with multiple Enfield residents to determine credibility of stories Steele told regarding his actions. Steele had been observed allegedly attempting to steal a large metal ditch culvert pipe. It’s also believed that Steele was involved in the theft of an unknown amount of diesel fuel from a property. When Steele was arrested, he allegedly tossed a small bag of what was later positively field tested to be about two grams of methamphetamine. He’ll be in court Monday on a status hearing according to court records.
