State Rep. David Reis to host ID Theft Seminars

State Representative David Reis (R-Ste. Marie) has announced that his office will host identity theft seminars in 4 communities in the month of November. The seminars are offered in conjunction with the Illinois Attorney General’s office. Reis hopes residents can benefit from the information being presented on one of the biggest threats facing consumers in America today.

“Identity theft is a growing issue in our country, especially for senior citizens,” Reis said. “With the recently announced attack on the credit reporting agency Equifax, tens of millions of Americans are now at risk for identity theft. ID theft can result in the loss of money, time, and overall personal security. Consumers need to be protected.”

Reis says he is offering the seminars free of charge to residents in Mt. Carmel, Carmi, Fairfield and Olney in the month of November. He hopes the public will take advantage of the opportunity to learn about the very real risks posed by identity thieves.

“I think we’re all becoming more and more aware that the threat of identity theft is real,” Reis said.
“We want seniors to have the tools and information they need to protect their identity and to stop identity crimes being perpetrated against them. So, we’re going out to meet with them in their communities to help make this information as accessible as possible.”
